Damelon

Assignment to the planet Damelon is not a career diplomat's dream. Damelon is not even a backup plan. Damelon's where you end up when they don't know what else to do with you.

It's not the most glamorous assignment, but it might be the most interesting.

Ok, guys, this is it! You've completed the actor draft - and I must say, very interesting choices - and now it's time for the premier of your TV shows!

At the beginning of each week, either that Saturday or early on Sunday I will post the weekly challenge (The tentative schedule also available in the Charts and Tables page, however I got some new ideas I'd like to incorporate) Remember that you don't HAVE to do the weekly challenge, but doing so will give you some extra points for that week!

After I post you guys are allowed to post your episode for that week. You may keep to a weekly schedule if you like, as if you did have a timeslot, or you can post whenever you have time. The moment you post is when you grab the starmeter scores from IMDB, so take this into consideration when you strategize.

When you post, your subject line should read "Name of show, Episode #"

After you post, I will roll a virtual dice and give you a score from the random table of randomness in the comments. (And I do want to encourage Roleplaying in the comments and between showrunners if that's your thing. Remember, the point is to be a creative as possible!)

This week the challenge is easy - it's the pilot episode! Every good pilot has some things in common - it introduces the characters and the premise, and it leaves the viewers wanting more.

Get to it, guys! And feel free to ask questions anytime!

And remember to have fun!

Today is the big day! You all get to start choosing your actors! I'm going to use a serpentine draft system, but don't worry if you don't know what that is! If you just pick when it's your turn, you'll be fine.

Remember, you can pick any actor who is currently still alive and on IMDB as long as no one else above you has chosen him or her. (Maybe in another season we'll pick only actors who are dead and have undead zombie season...)

How to pick: Drop a comment on this post with the name of one actor, following the order I'm about to post. For example, if [personal profile] wolfling has number 1, she posts her first pick. Then as soon as she's commented, the person with number 2 gets to post next. We'll follow the order until everyone has their six actors. (Note that sometimes you may get to pick twice in a row.)

Note: I used a random number generator to get the initial order so this is as fair as possible.

Note #2: If you need to drop out, please let me know asap so I can redo the draft!

Note #3: Don't be afraid to ask if I left something unclear!

The picking order is after the cut )

The game premise:

You are the showrunner, creator of a TV show competing for ratings. Ratings are subjective things, and in this game are affected by the popularity of the actors you choose, as well as a series of random events that occur each week. You can influence your score by taking part in weekly challenges, or you can shoot for one of the end game bonuses.

The season lasts for ten weeks. Can you keep your show running and come out on top of the ratings chart?
